A large part of our budget goes to support locally physically challenged children. We spend about $65,000 per year on individual, local children. The expenditure goes for prosthesis, equipment, summer camp, transportation, a Christmas party, etc. The Rotary Club of Brantford has been a long time supporter of the Lansdowne Children's Centre, a Brant County centre for physically challenged children. Lansdowne provides assessment and treatment in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy in a clinic/school setting in combination with the Brant County Board of Education and respite care and social services through home visits. The operating budget for Lansdowne is provided through departments of the Ontario government but capital expenditure is funded in part by the community. The Rotary Club of Brantford pledged $750,000 towards Lansdowne's 1995 building project.
