The organizers of the Rotary Brantford Charity Air Show regretfully announce that the
Air Show will not take place for the 2011 year. Due to a number of factors that
challenge the success of the show, it was decided that not proceeding with an air show
in 2011 is in the best interest to maintain the integrity of this renowned Air Show.

While funding has been approved for necessary tarmac repairs, there is not adequate
time to complete the necessary works before August that would accommodate jet
aircraft performers, a repaved area for spectators, and the participation of Canadian Air
Forces aircraft. Under the current timeline the appropriate planning cannot take place
to ensure a safe, enjoyable Air Show with the variety of performers that would attract
the large audiences which have been vital in generating funds for our local charities.

Aviation enthusiasts will not have to look outside of Southern Ontario for other Air
Shows in the region this year. Both Hamilton and St. Thomas are hosting Air Shows this
June, followed by Waterloo, Toronto, and Windsor at the end of the summer.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the organizing committee members,
volunteers, citizens and City of Brantford & County of Brant councillors for their support
in the past and throughout these challenges.

The Air Show has run for 11 consecutive years in Brantford, supporting the United Way
and its member agencies as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Brantford and Lansdowne
Children’s Centre through the Rotary Club of Brantford. Over $400,000 has been raised
for charities within our community from the proceeds of this not-for-profit event.

The Air Show is organized by a core group of approximately 30 volunteers who donate
their time and skills year-round, many having participated for multiple years. On Air
Show day over 250 people including families, students, Cadets and community groups
volunteer to take on the jobs that ensure a successful event.
